Let us talk about the qualities of a good woman.
Actually, no. Before we get there, I want to do something else first, because I already know what happens in the comments. There are no good women left. All of them are like this. All of them are like that.
Point a finger at yourself first.
Ask yourself one question before you write a single word of that comment. Am I a good man?
Because here is the thing most people never understand, and it applies to men just as much as it applies to women.
You attract who you become.

You are not owed a good woman
If you are a good man, the possibility of attracting a good woman is there. If you are not, you do not get to sit and complain that there are none.
A lot of men are walking around with the idea that somewhere out there is a good woman waiting for them, and that she will arrive and accept all their behaviour exactly as it is. No values. No direction. No control over their emotions. No money. No order in any part of their life. And she is supposed to show up anyway and make it all work.
That is not how any of this functions.
This is why you find wealthy men with beautiful wives who are completely miserable.
They thought being a good man was about what you own. The car, the house, the account. They never once looked at who they were internally, so they attracted somebody who fights them at home, argues with them on social media, competes with them and trash talks them. And then they sit back and say there are no good women.
I was there myself for a long time. She should be supportive. She should be this. She should be that. A whole list. And I never once asked what I was bringing to the table.
So the first quality on this list is not about her at all.
Become a good man first. Get your values and principles straight. Learn to lead yourself. Learn to control your emotions. Get your finances in order. Get your social life in order.
Do that, and the rest of this list becomes much easier, because you will start recognising these qualities in people and they will start recognising something worth being around in you.
Now, the qualities.
1. Respect
For me this is the most important one.
Watch how she treats you, your friends and your family. Somebody who does not respect the people around you is not going to develop it later because you asked nicely.
Some young women were raised in genuinely chaotic homes. The father was disrespectful, the mother was disrespectful, and that became the normal way people speak to each other. She may not even see it as a problem, because it is all she has ever seen.
I want to be fair here. People can change, and I have written before about how a person breaks a pattern they inherited. But that work is theirs to do, and it takes years of deliberate effort. It is not something you can do on her behalf by loving her harder.
So the honest position is this. If somebody is not doing that work and shows no interest in doing it, your job is to walk away. Not to fix her.
And the same standard applies to you. If you are the disrespectful one, none of this applies until you handle it.
2. Shared values on family and money
Most of the disunity in homes comes down to 2 people who wanted completely different things and never said so out loud.
On family, you need to know where each of you actually stands. Children or no children. How many. When. How you intend to raise them. What role each family plays. These are not romantic conversations and they are not comfortable ones, but the alternative is discovering the gap 5 years in.
I have my own strong views on family and I will not pretend otherwise. But the useful point for you is narrower than my opinion. Find out where she stands, tell her honestly where you stand, and see whether those 2 things can live in the same house.
Money is the same. Private school or public. Saving or spending. Supporting extended family or not. Who handles what.
Where there is no synergy on those, what exactly do you expect to happen?
Have the conversation early, while it is still cheap to discover you disagree.
3. Peace
You should be glad to walk into your own house.
When you come home after a long day, you should want to be there. That is not a small thing. A man who dreads his own door is carrying something that will eventually show up in his work, his health and everything else.
But here is the part men skip.
You have to become the kind of man who is welcomed home like that.
Those things, the “are you okay, how was your day,” come out naturally from most women when you are the right man. Do not expect a peaceful home while you are the one bringing the chaos into it.
And peace starts inside you. Whatever happened to you as a child, whatever you have been carrying since, deal with it. Battle your own demons before you demand peace from anybody else, because the way you lead yourself is what she will eventually mirror back to you, usually amplified.
4. Honesty and integrity
Some people will lie to you knowing they are lying, and somehow you will still believe them.
Avoid that. The manipulative ones will even cry while doing it, and the crying is part of it.
What you are looking for is honesty, and underneath honesty, integrity. Integrity is the part that holds when nobody is watching and when there is something to gain from bending. An honest person is not corrupted by external pressure, and that is worth more than almost anything else on this list, because everything else depends on it.
And you already know the other half of this. Be honest yourself. You cannot build a life with somebody while running a version of yourself that is not true.
5. Discipline and a sense of direction
Is she building something?
It does not matter what. A business. A skill. A career. Look for evidence that she takes something up and follows through on it.
Is she consistent with her health, not for an audience but for herself? Is she responsible with the simple things she already has, her space, her belongings, her time?
That tells you more than anything she says about herself.
This is not about being threatened by a woman who has her own thing going on. That fear is its own kind of weakness. It is about not building a life with somebody who has no direction at all, because direction is the thing that keeps a person steady when life gets difficult.
6. Loyalty
She holds your name up when you are not in the room.
There is no moment where she says or does something that undermines you to other people. That is the whole test, and it happens almost entirely in rooms you are not in.
But become a man who receives loyalty freely rather than demanding it.
When you have actually figured out who you are, what you hold and what you believe, this gets much simpler. You are not negotiating for it. People either meet that standard or they do not, and you can see which very quickly.
A short word on masculinity
Let me put this here, because it belongs in the middle of this list rather than at the end.
The loudest men shouting about masculinity are usually the least masculine men in the room.
Some of the quietest men I have met are the most masculine men I have met. You do not need to announce it. You do not need to beat your chest about it on the internet. People can see it in how you carry yourself, how you handle pressure, and how you treat people who can do nothing for you.
If you are talking about it constantly, that is usually the tell.
7. Emotional maturity
Disagreements will happen. I am not one of those people who thinks a relationship needs constant fighting to be real, and I am also not pretending a good relationship has none.
The question is never whether issues come up. It is what happens next.
If every issue turns into shouting, manipulation, or walking out, you already have your answer. If a reasonable question gets met with “who do you think you are,” that is information, and you should treat it as information rather than as a problem to solve at 1am.
A person who can sit with a disagreement, stay in the room, and talk through it is rare and worth far more than somebody who is pleasant only when nothing is wrong.
Again, same standard for you.
8. Good with money
Money is a serious factor in relationships and marriage, and people pretend otherwise until it is too late.
If somebody cannot manage 20,000 shillings, what makes you think managing 100,000 will go better? The amount is not the skill. The handling is.
Here is a test I like, and it is not a trick, it is just an ordinary request that tells you a lot.
Give her 10,000 shillings and ask her to help with the shopping, without going along.
Some people will walk through the house first. Check the kitchen, check the bathroom, see what is actually missing. Write a list. Go to the supermarket with the list. Come back with the shopping, the change, and the receipt, and tell you honestly that you will need to add a bit more next time because prices have moved.
Others will come back having spent the whole thing on something that was never on any list, and there will be no receipt and no conversation about it.
That is not about being cheap or controlling. It is about whether somebody takes responsibility for resources that are not entirely their own, which is exactly what running a home requires every single week.
9. Kindness
Watch how she treats people who can do nothing for her.
The waiter. The person at the counter. The guard. The house help. Watch how she treats your parents when they visit, and whether she wants to do something for them without being asked.
And I have to say the other half, because some men genuinely believe they can be an unpleasant person and still be owed a kind partner.
What you see in her is usually a reflection of who you are. Be kind yourself. It has a way of coming back to you.
10. Upholding feminine values
This one is my personal view and I want to label it clearly as that, because I know it is the part people will argue about.
I am happy when I see my girlfriend in the kitchen. I do not think ironing a shirt is a prison sentence. I do not think cleaning a home is slavery.
We are living in a moment where these things are treated as oppression by default, and I do not see it that way. What I notice is that a woman who says she will not cook or clean for a man will sometimes do exactly those things as paid employment for somebody else, which tells me the objection was never really to the task.
I think there is a natural counterpart on the man’s side. When I pull into a petrol station, she does not need to be consulted on what is happening, because she trusts that I know what I am doing and I will handle it. That trust runs in both directions and it makes a home function.
My honest belief is that feminine women exist, and that they show up as their feminine selves around men who are actually masculine, not men who announce it.
You may disagree with all of that, and that is fine. Hold whatever view you hold. I am not a professor or a philosopher. I am one person telling you what I have observed and what I value.
11. Supportive
A supportive woman adds to what you are building instead of competing with it.
Social media has made this word toxic. Do not support him, do not be his mother, baby girl. We have reached a strange level with it.
Here is what I actually mean. If you are building something and she has a skill that adds value to it, and she is willing to bring it, that is a good woman.
And here is the part almost nobody says. If she is genuinely working for you, pay her for it.
If she is running your Facebook page or handling your social media, that is labour with a market rate attached. Do not hide behind the relationship to get free work. Compensate her properly. That is not unromantic, it is respect with a number on it, and it prevents the resentment that builds quietly when one person’s work is treated as automatic.
Lead yourself right
That is the list. Respect, shared values, peace, honesty, discipline, loyalty, emotional maturity, money sense, kindness, feminine values as I understand them, and support.
But I want to end where I started, because it is the only part of this that you actually control.
You have to lead yourself right as a man. You have to hold the characteristics you are asking somebody else to hold. You attract who you become.
So before you go into any comment section to announce that there are no good women left, sit with the other question for a while.
