The Journey of Growth, Skills & Digital Impact
I’m Elvis Warutumo, but you might know me as Elvis W.—a digital creator, educator, and entrepreneur driven by a passion for personal development, digital skills, and online business growth. My story isn’t just about where I started—it’s about resilience, reinvention, and relentless pursuit of impact in the digital world.
From a Curious Student to a Digital Visionary
Born and raised in Kenya, I grew up in an academic household—my father, a retired lecturer, and my mother, a high school principal. Education was a central part of my upbringing, but I quickly realized that the traditional school system didn’t prepare me for real-world success. Like many, I believed that earning a degree would be the key to a stable career. I pursued a Bachelor’s in Purchasing & Supplies Management at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, yet by the time I neared graduation, a harsh reality hit me: jobs were scarce, and I needed to build something of my own.
The Spark of Digital Entrepreneurship
My transition into the digital world wasn’t planned—it was driven by necessity and curiosity. While working as a storekeeper, I became fascinated with computers, design software, and digital tools. I taught myself Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Access, and graphic design, using YouTube and online tutorials to sharpen my skills. Soon, I started offering design services to classmates, student organizations, and local businesses—charging as little as KES 150 per poster.
By 2017, I landed my first real job at a cybercafé in Nanyuki, where I learned business fundamentals, customer engagement, and marketing strategies. That experience shaped my entrepreneurial mindset, showing me that the digital economy had limitless opportunities—if I was willing to embrace them.
Building a Business in the Face of Uncertainty
After graduating in 2018, I took a bold step: starting my own business. With KES 100,000 from my mother, I launched a cybercafé, hoping to make a living from digital services. However, reality set in fast—it wasn’t just about having a business, it was about learning how to market, sell, and attract the right audience.
This period taught me the power of digital visibility. I explored platforms like Jiji (formerly OLX) to attract clients, offering logo design, website development, and digital marketing services. Then came the turning point—when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020. While businesses closed and jobs were lost, I realized this was my moment to fully transition into the online space. I built a strong remote business, serving clients globally with branding, web design, and content marketing services.
The Rise of Content Creation & Influence
In 2022, I discovered TikTok. Initially skeptical about the platform, I soon realized that valuable content could thrive beyond just entertainment. Within three months, my content on freelancing, digital skills, and personal branding grew to 50,000+ followers—and that was just the beginning.
Today, I’ve built an online community of:
📌 580K+ TikTok Followers
📌 82k+ LinkedIn Followers
📌 182K+ Facebook Followers
📌 22K+ Instagram Followers
📌 45K+ Telegram Community Members
📌 3K+ WhatsApp Network Members
This growth isn’t just about numbers—it represents real impact. Thousands have learned digital skills, built freelance careers, and created sustainable online businesses through my content, courses, and mentorship.
